Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 dog rescue, is accustomed to receiving calls regarding stray dogs in Southern California. Good Samaritans in Orange County frequently contact her when they come across a dog in need. However, she recently took a call that was more troubling than most.
The Good Samaritan discovered not one, but three little canines abandoned on an abandoned property in Compton — and they refused to leave each other’s side while waiting for assistance.
As soon as Hall saw a photo of the puppies, she knew their rescue would be difficult to arrange. It was difficult enough to manage one nervous dog, let alone three. But she understood she was their only hope.
“It was beyond heartbreaking to see,” Hall posted on Facebook. “They are all so tiny.”
Hall’s rescue mission was unexpectedly delayed by a few days due to mechanical problems with her rescue vehicle. Meanwhile, her friend Mary Nakiso paid them visits every evening, providing them with good food to eat while they waited for rescue.
When Hall finally made it to the ranch, she was astounded by the trio’s devotion to one another.
“They were so scared, but they had each other,” Hall stated. “And boy, do they love each other.”
Hall showered the puppies with love affirmations from a safe distance before devising a plan to catch them. She caught the smallest of the three and called him Oscar, while Nakiso sought to gain the trust of the middle pup. Fortunately, Nakiso needed little convincing.
“The little girl loved Mary so much, and Mary was able to get her,” Hall stated.
Hall and Nakiso were overjoyed to lift Oscar and his sister, Jolene, from the ground and into the safety of Hall’s van. But their somewhat larger brother, eventually named Ollie, caused the rescuers more trouble than the first two.
“The third baby boy was so beyond scared, he kept going into the garage,” wrote Hall.
Hall and Nakiso decided to give the dog some space and drove his siblings to Camino Pet Hospital while he decompressed. Later that night, Hall returned to the site with a humane dog trap and placed it near the garage where Ollie was hiding.
The next morning, Hall heaved a sigh of relief as she located Ollie inside the trap. She transported the adorable youngster directly to the veterinary hospital, where he was reunited with his brothers.
“They were all very afraid. “So cold and so hungry,” Hall wrote. “However, they were finally all safe. “They had each other again.”
The triplets were quickly given clean bills of health before being placed in a foster home with Hall’s close friend, Genavie Ochoa, who has since been caring for them.
While Ollie remains shy, his siblings are gradually becoming more at ease in their surroundings. Despite the hurdles, their rescuers are optimistic that they will all fully recover from the emotional trauma they underwent.
“Ollie is scared, but the other two are so sweet and love belly rubs,” Hall told The Dodo. “These poor babies went through so much.”

Hall hopes Ollie, Jolene, and Oscar will find their perfect forever home soon. Until then, she takes comfort in knowing that the pups are already at ease as they cuddle in a warm and comfortable surroundings.
“I’m sure they haven’t slept this good in a long time,” Hall said. “They are rescued and have each other.”
